Public invited to Parks and Recreation Open Houses Nov. 2 & 4

Sarasota, FL:  The City of Sarasota’s Parks and Recreation Department is inviting residents to two public open houses November 2 & 4. The goal of these events is to receive community input and to identify the social, cultural and recreational needs and priorities of the City and its residents.

The first open house will be held Thursday, November 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 John Rivers St (formerly 34th St.).

The second open house will be held Saturday, November 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Payne Park Auditorium, 2100 Laurel St. Refreshments and light snacks will be served.

Both open houses will have an open, interactive format. The consulting team developing the Parks and Recreation master plan and City staff will be on hand to talk with attendees one-on-one about the process and possibilities. Residents will be encouraged to ask questions, offer input and provide feedback via a handwritten or electronic survey. There will be no formal presentation.

The data and comments gathered from these open houses will be incorporated into the master plan, which will become a roadmap for addressing the needs of our residents by enhancing and improving parks, recreation, facilities and programming.
