Osprey Ave. – Resurfacing
Heads Up – Crews will begin milling and paving Osprey Ave. between Bahia Vista and Siesta Dr. on Monday, October 15, weather permitting. The road will remain open with temporary lane closures and a flag person on site directing traffic.
To lessen inconvenience, the portion of road in front of Southside Elementary School will be paved next Friday and Saturday, when school is not in session.
Likewise to reduce impact on the Southside Village business district, the road work will be done at night. We expect the night work to begin toward the end of the month aroundOctober 29.
Electronic message boards have been placed along Osprey alerting drivers and pedestrians of the upcoming improvements and to expect some limited traffic delays.
We hope to have the entire stretch of Osprey — from Bahia Vista to Siesta — finished by early November.
Investing in infrastructure improvements like this are a significant aspect of municipal government. When this project is completed, 1.4 miles of a major north-south route in Sarasota will be resurfaced — quite an endeavor that will boost quality of life for pedestrians and motorists.
